Bitcoin has started 2025 with two consecutive days of positive returns, sparking optimism for a bullish January. A significant event on the horizon is Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 21st, marking the second term of the self-proclaimed “Crypto President.”

Trump’s impact on crypto markets is undeniable. His speech at Bitcoin 2024 triggered a rally. When he survived an assassination attempt, the markets surged. After his election victory, Bitcoin rallied again. The pattern is clear: Trump’s actions, whether deliberate or incidental, tend to energise the crypto market. Investors are anticipating a similar market response on January 21st, especially with rumors of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve announcement circulating.

Bitcoin has twice rebounded this year from lows to trade back above $95,000. While the bearish structure remains intact, the $92,000–$93,000 support zone has proven robust. If Bitcoin continues to hold this level without falling below it, the likelihood of breaking a lower high and reclaiming a bullish structure grows significantly.

We maintain a bullish outlook on FTM, believing the Sonic migration will significantly bolster the project’s fundamentals. Historically, these pivots are revisited during the month, with the mid-bottom CPR aligning with a critical resistance level at $95,700. As we closed out 2024, Bitcoin wrapped up a phenomenal year, setting the stage for what could be an even better 2025. In the final 24 hours of the year, Bitcoin traded at $91.5K, briefly breaking its bearish structure. As the new year approached, the price showed renewed bullish momentum, peaking at $96.3K—a 5% increase from its earlier daily low.

However, the bullish push was short-lived, as Bitcoin failed to create a higher high, with price retracing 3% to its current level of $93.6K. For the bulls to reclaim dominance, Bitcoin needs to break this recent high and establish a new higher high.

2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for Bitcoin and the long-anticipated altcoin season. Several bullish catalysts suggest that the market could be on the cusp of explosive growth. Today marks the final day of what has been an extraordinary year for Bitcoin, up an impressive 118% since January 1st. This year has brought monumental milestones, including the approval of Bitcoin ETFs, new all-time highs, the fourth Bitcoin halving, and even Bitcoin sell-offs driven by governmental actions. We’ve also witnessed discussions about Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset, Donald Trump’s re-election, and the monumental breaking of $100,000. What a ride!

December, however, is shaping up to be the first negative month for Bitcoin since August. Despite setting multiple all-time highs earlier this month, Bitcoin has faced a series of mass liquidation events, culminating in a sustained correction.

This morning alone, Bitcoin dipped to $91.5k before rebounding sharply to $95k within just four hours. It has since corrected to trade below $93k, briefly dropping under $92k. All of this intense price action has unfolded within the past seven hours, highlighting Bitcoin’s infamous volatility.

This movement has broken Bitcoin’s bullish structure, forming a new lower low at $91.5k, and flipping the momentum to bearish. Such a shift suggests Bitcoin may trade below $90k again in the near term. However, while this correction feels bearish, it is worth noting that pullbacks like this are a natural and even healthy part of bull markets.

Zoom out, and the bigger picture shows that Bitcoin surged over 50% from the start of November. This is its first major correction since that rally, and it serves to maintain the longer-term bullish structure, ultimately prolonging the bull market. When this correction ends—and history suggests it will—Bitcoin is poised to trade much higher in the coming year. Those who take advantage of this dip will likely be glad they did.

For investors, this correction may feel daunting, and some positions might currently be in drawdown. However, we remain in the early stages of this bull market. We’re at that pivotal point in the bull market where USDT FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) resurfaces, potentially driving this sustained pullback across the crypto market. Bitcoin has dropped another 2% in the past 24 hours, now trading at a low of $93.4k.

The latest wave of USDT FUD stems from the imminent delisting of the stablecoin on centralised exchanges throughout Europe. The European Union’s MiCA regulation (Markets in Crypto Assets) comes into full effect tomorrow, requiring stablecoins to adhere to stringent standards of transparency and financial reserves. USDT does not currently meet these requirements.

Tether, the issuer of USDT, has long been criticised for its lack of regular audits, opting instead for quarterly asset verification reports by a third party. The transparency of its reserves has remained a contentious issue over the years, further fueling concerns.

With USDT being the largest stablecoin by market cap, this delisting is expected to drive a shift in funds toward alternative stablecoins such as USDC, which complies with MiCA regulations. Despite the regulatory pressures, USDT dominance has rallied in recent days, even as the broader crypto market experiences bearish momentum.

While USDT’s delisting will impact centralised exchange volumes across Europe, it will likely retain its position as the premier stablecoin in other global markets. Moreover, it remains the dominant stablecoin within decentralised finance ecosystems.

Short-term volatility caused by FUD often creates bearish sentiment, but it also opens opportunities for investors to accumulate discounted Bitcoin and altcoins. While immediate market movements may seem uncertain, Bitcoin’s long-term bullish trajectory remains intact. Bitcoin is looking to close negative for the second consecutive day, raising concerns about its bullish structure. Earlier today, Bitcoin hit a low of $93.5k, just four hours after showing bullish momentum by setting a higher low and reaching $97.5k.

Despite this pullback, Bitcoin remains within a bullish framework. To maintain this posture, Bitcoin must hold above $92.5k. Unlike previous days where Bitcoin’s decline coincided with a rise in Bitcoin dominance, today marks the first instance where both Bitcoin and its dominance have dropped.

This pullback has also impacted the Fear and Greed Index, a measure of overall market sentiment. Yesterday, the index stood at 79, indicating extreme greed. Today, it has declined to 73, reflecting regular greed. This shift suggests waning bullish sentiment, potentially signaling an upcoming phase of consolidation or correction.

As the saying goes, “Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy only when others are fearful.” Fear is creeping back into the market. Bitcoin is correcting, and this is when smart money accumulates, while retail investors tend to hesitate. Don’t let fear keep you from capitalizing on these corrections.

Yesterday, we highlighted the potential for Bitcoin’s bearish structure to be invalidated after it created a higher high on the 4-hour timeframe. However, Bitcoin has since broken below its consolidation range. To maintain a bullish outlook, Bitcoin must hold above the recent higher low of $92.5K. A break below this level could lead to a retest of the $90K region. Conversely, if the low holds, Bitcoin could aim for a recovery towards the $100K level.

Despite Bitcoin’s 4% pullback, Bitcoin dominance has increased for three consecutive days, signaling a shift in momentum toward the bulls. While this has occurred, altcoins have continued to struggle, with the total altcoin market declining by 4% and reinforcing its bearish structure.

The brief period of altcoin dominance earlier this month has faded. The Altseason Index, which was at 88 on December 4, has since dropped to 43, indicating that only 43% of the top 50 coins are outperforming Bitcoin. For the index to signal an altseason, it must exceed a reading of 75.

Yesterday, we analysed Bitcoin's 4-hour chart, which was locked in a bearish structure on the verge of invalidation. Since then, Bitcoin has nullified this bearish setup by creating a new higher high at $95,555, just $15 above the previous peak.

While this move only narrowly surpassed the previous high, it was enough to shift the structure back in favor of the bulls. Bitcoin has now set a higher high after establishing a higher low, a classic bullish signal. However, the momentum has slowed, with Bitcoin consolidating within a range of $97,500–$99,500. This range-bound behavior has coincided with a struggling altcoin market, as overall altcoin valuations have dipped. Meanwhile, Bitcoin dominance has slightly increased, forming its own higher high—a potentially pivotal shift in market dynamics.

Currently, Bitcoin’s outlook is neutral. A decisive break above the consolidation range could pave the way for a rally toward $102,800, a key level that, if surpassed, might lead to new all-time highs. Conversely, a breakdown from this range could trigger a pullback to the recent higher low of $92,500. Maintaining support above this level would keep the bullish structure intact.

While short-term price action remains uncertain, Bitcoin’s long-term bullish trajectory continues to offer strong potential.
